i really like the motu ethnic programs sounds and wanted to know how it would work with garageband. would i have to upgrade to logic to get the sounds to be good or do they work just as well for garageband? also does anyone use the world jam pack expansion? if so does it add alot to garageband? i tried to find a list of loop and instrument names for it and all i could see was names i have that were included with garageband3 already. thanks for any help. oh ya does bfd work well enuff with garageband or must i upgrade to logic to get it to work best? thanx again.
You should be able to use any AU plug-in with Garageband. MOTU Ethno should work as a AU plug-in within GarageBand. I'm not sure it it's a universal binary or not which is very important if you have an Intel Mac. You used to able to download a demo version of LogicExpress, but that promotion may have ended. Logic is a much more powerful and complex program (but with a bit of a steep learning curve). Logic is certainly capable of doing much more complex things than GarageBand, but ony you can determine whether you need those expanded capabilities, and if you have the time to devote to learning how it use it.
Here is a link to the pdf that comes with the World Instrument Jam Pack. It doesn't list the loops but it describes each instrument in the pack. I have all the Jam Packs and find them a good value for the money.
Motu Symphonic Instrument does indeed work with GB. I have that and another rompler, PlugSound Pro from UltimateSoundBank, (they wrote the UVI for MSI as well as their own product) and I find both products integrate well with GB.
