About PIN

Hello "Apple" support!

I do not get a specific answer about PIN code - Apple Pay.

Below I you submit Apple Pay website, in which written about PIN code. But I don't understand about PIN code:

Start "Apple Pay" website:

"If you need to choose Credit or Debit on the terminal, choose Credit. Depending on the store and transaction amount, you might need to sign a receipt or enter your PIN.

If you're paying with Apple Pay Cash in the United States, authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or a secure passcode.3 Some terminals may still request a PIN to complete any debit transaction. If prompted, just enter 0000 or any other four-digit code". (This is from "Apple Pay" page. This not my).

My questions:

Does "Apple" have in mind the use of a card? However I understand that Apple Pay can generate a PIN code, because need enter 0000.

It means that "Apple Pay" may know bank card PIN code. For example, PIN code generated from 16 digits card number and from 3 digits security code? Yes/No

Please answer me to my email: *****@ icloud.com

Sorry! I don't can call to "Apple Pay" customer service. Thank you

From Apple Pay security and privacy overview - Apple Support:

After you authenticate your transaction, the Secure Element provides your Device Account Number and a transaction-specific dynamic security code to the store’s point of sale terminal along with additional information needed to complete the transaction. Again, neither Apple nor your device sends your actual payment card number or that card's PIN. Before they approve the payment, your bank, card issuer, or payment network can verify your payment information by checking the dynamic security code to make sure that it’s unique and tied to your device.

I've added the text in italics, which is implied from everything else. Entering a dummy PIN when requested to by sales staff is a workaround for a company that hasn't fully developed its policies for Apple Pay, but is not a security risk for you or them.

You should not post your email address to a public forum unless you enjoy spam and phish.
