My text alerts are not alerting when my screen is off on my iPhone and have it paired to the watch
That's correct and by design. When you have your watch on your wrist, it is considered dominant, so the alert will appear on the watch, not the watch and phone. I can't tell you how grateful the people in my office are to not hear my phone and watch beep at the same time.
I don't use any tone on my Apple Watch. I use Haptics, which means the watch taps my wrist. You should switch your notifications settings to haptics. You can't miss the tap and no one near you but you would even know you're getting a notification.
It is operating as designed.
Appreciate the answer and I understand how in an office it would be annoying with both alerts going off Just seems to me that you can turn down or silent the watch.
I work in a hospital and count on the alert on the phone because it’s louder (especially when I’m asleep and on-call 24/7. I like having the watch but wasn’t counting on it becoming the “dominant “ one. I just wish I would have known that before I bought the watch.
