Hi QasimJee,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that after updating to iOS 12 you're having trouble with the microphones on your iPhone and you're seeing an error when you try to use Voice Memos. I know its important for the microphones on your device to work properly; I'd like to point you in the right direction. Based on what you've described, I'd recommend visiting a nearby Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider for further assistance: Find Locations

Best Regards.

BEWARE...APPLE, Your company should be ashamed of itself. I bought my phone on January 7, 2018 and have not had a single problem with it until today. I did an update of my IPhone 7 to IOS 12.1.3. After that I couldn’t hear any incoming calls (it would ring but silence on the line) or hear anybody in the outgoing calls. Also the speaker was “greyed” out and was not able to be used. When trying to see if the voice memos worked it says “audio device not detected”. When connected to Bluetooth in my vehicle outgoing and incoming calls worked perfectly showing that this is not a carrier problem it’s a device problem. I went to the APPLE community help page and there are pages of people with the EXACT same issue. I called APPLE and spoke to technical support for over an hour who tried to help but was unsuccessful so he forwarded me to a senior specialist. As soon as she came on the phone she was aware of this problem and how many people were dealing with this exact same issue. She actually told me that updating the devices IOS causes a fault that was “ALREADY IN THE PHONE” and is set off by the update. Basically she told me there was nothing that she could do as it was regular “wear and tear”. How is that wear and tear when she told me it was a fault on their end? That is shows itself after an update. My phone is SEVENTEEN DAYS OUTSIDE AF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I bought it January 7, 2018 and it is January 23. Her reply was “that’s too bad but there nothing we can do. I am absolutely disgusted with the greed of this company. I am a healthcare worker who is employed in the operating room, I work call shifts where if there’s an emergency whether it is 4 in the afternoon or 4 in the morning I get a call to come immediately. I now have to come up with a phone as soon as possible all because of a problem APPLE WAS AWARE OF that is happening because of their faulty devices and to top it off they refuse to help in any way because I am SEVENTEEN DAYS OVER my warranty period. Again the greed of this company is sickening to me. They admitted this problem is something on their end but because I am seventeen days date in addressing it I don’t matter to them anymore. They have my money that’s clearly all their after. Please feel free to share if you would like. Thanks for reading

I have the same situation! I have sell the iphone 7 (to buy a new one) about two months ago and after user has ugraded to 12.0.1 he have almost unusable phone. The mic is working for a call or two and then dies. After restart the boot is taking verrryyy long and the mic starts to work but not for a long time. Have tried almost everything, reset settings, restore the phone as a new one not from backup, turned off Bluetooth, restarted it multiple times in a row... still nothing. User have gone from iphone SE to iPhone 7 with quick setup (new phone near the old phone) if this information helps you somehow. I must say that I have using this iphone for two years withouth any problems! Im almost sure that this is software problem because the phone works after restrat as it should. It depends, sometimes works for about half an hour sometimes for a day but not anything longer than a day. Pleas help! If I can help with any information please contact me.
