iPhone from US

If I buy an Apple iPhone from USA, is it working if I take it back with me to Europe?

I heard from someone that some phones are I sort of way "locked" so that they work only in the United States and I broke my phone and need a new one. So if I buy it from here do I have problems when I go back home to Europe?

If you purchase a phone in the US, you need to get an unlocked phone from an Apple Store. Be aware that you will not have any warranty service support in Europe. If you would need any warranty repair, you would need to return it to the US for service. It is recommended that you purchase a phone in the country where you will use it. For a purchase in Europe, the EU is considered “one” country, so you can get warranty service anywhere there.
