I have iphone 6 version 12.0.1
and I’m having trouble transfer my text messages from my old iPhone which is iPhone 6 , everything else transfer except text message . what step can I do next to recovery them . Thank you

You need to transfer everything from the old phone to the new phone. This will include texts. Note that this will overwrite everything on the new phone with the contents of the old phone. Transfer content from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
An alternative is to go to Settings, tap on your name, then icloud, then turn on Contact sync on BOTH phones.
Other than syncing or a total restore there is no way to copy just messages.
