iPhone Xs Max wireless charging issue

Hello!

I've had my iPhone Xs Max (256 mb, Verizon) for nearly 3 weeks. Once each week I've had to restart my phone in order for wireless charging to continue to work. I have two Qi chargers, so I know the issue is phone specific. As soon as I restart the phone, both chargers will charge the phone without issue. I experienced this with iOS 12 and iOS 12.0.1. Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks!

I have also been experiencing an issue with wireless charging.

My phone will begin to charge when placed on the Qi pad for a few minutes, but when I return to check, it has somehow stopped charging. I tested to see if it was due to my phone playing white noise during the night, but I tested it with nothing running and it still stops charging after a few minutes.

My phone has also been finikey about CarPlay as well.

I feel your pain! I’ve had my iPhone XS Max for nearly 2 months and only this week it has developed a problem with the wireless charging where most of the time it doesn’t charge and the odd time it does I have to fiddle about with it. I know it’s not charging pad related aswell as I tried a family members brand new iPhone XR and it worked fine. I wonder if it’s related to the most up to date IOS 12.1 as i only updated to it about a week ago and that is around when the problems started occurring.

What did they tell you at the Apple Store?

Weirdly enough, I purchased my phone in September and it has worked flawlessly (I did switch to wireless charging in December though), I have had software updates which involved restarts, however today I attached the device to the wireless charger and nothing happened. I had to restart it for the wireless to start working. I am on 12.1.2. It has not been restarted since the last round of updates, iPhone XS Max 256GB.

I have this exact problem. I am running iOS 12.1.4 and Wireless Charging will not work unless I place the phone on the wireless charging pad and turn the phone off and back on.... It works but it is a nuisance and shouldn't happen on phones so expensive. My husband has the same phone purchased on the same day and has no issues so I know it is not any of the 3 wireless charging pads I have. Hopefully Apple will fix it soon.

I purchased my iPhone Xs and Belkin Charger in December 2018. Wireless charging worked until March and then stopped. Took the Belkin Charger into a CarPhone Warehouse who helpfully checked that it would charge on their Belkin demonstrator charger. It successfully recharged after a reboot. I took my iPhone home and despite several re-boots it failed to charge. Thinking it was the charger I returned it to Belkin who replaced it under warranty. My iPhone still refuses to charge even following an update of iOS to 12.2. Does Apple know if this is a known hardware or software problem as I do not want a fruitless 60 mile trip to my nearest Apple store?
