Rest finger to unlock

iOS 11 had the feature where one could just rest the finger on the TouchID and the iPhone would unlock without having to press the home button again. Is the feature still there in iOS 12, how can I activate it .

In my iP7, as already stated, I don't need to press the home button twice.

Don't know why this is not happening on your device.

Have you tried a "foced restart" of your iPhone?

Depending on your iPhone model:

  • On an iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
  • On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
  • On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

See if this help you.

Sorry about that, Kesho.

If the forced restart didn't help you, the next troubleshooting step is to install a fresh copy of iOS on your device. Since this issue is coming from a "system setting", during your last update something cound have gone worng.

To perform that procedure, make a full backup of your device, then restore it to factory settings, and, at the end, set it up as new:

When done, do not restore your data from backup, test your iphone for a while after inputing your fingerprints, and see if the behaviour changes.

If everything is okay, restore data from your previously made backup:
