When shutting down the iPhone X does the circular logo appear in the centre of the screen

New iPhone X running on iOS 12.0.1 loses charge when switched off. I noticed when I power it off the circular symbol does not appear. Is this normal as every iPhone /iPad I have had has the symbol when shutting down. When I switch it back on it asks for a pin after restarting which I assume means it has shut down properly.
