I have asked about this and from what I've been seeing around a lot of people have upgraded without any major issues. There have been a few problems but updates for some plugins have come out.

The NUMBER ONE thing is to make sure you have a good, complete backup of your system. Never update without a backup.

Number two is that you are making money with your system or you're in the middle of a project then you probably shouldn't do it.

If not, go ahead but only if you have a full backup.

You update from the App Store. Make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID used to purchase it.

That version of FCP will not work with Mojave. You would need to download the current version 10.4.3.

whoops... sorry, I didn't see the version numbers. Yeah, you'll need to do the free upgrade to move up to Mojave.
