iPad keyboard positioning

The keyboard has shifted so that it covers the screen area where I need to type a message or email. How can I restore the keyboard to the normal position at the bottom of the iPad screen?

thanks

Press and hold the keyboard key bottom right of the keyboard and after a second or so you should get a popup, slide your finger up to the 'Dock' option on that and then remove your finger from the screen. If you don't want an undocked or split keyboard as an option you can disable it via Settings > General > Keyboard > Split Keyboard 'off'
