Not met with previous 11.4 iOS, but from iOS 12.0.1 when my iphone8 connects to my car's bluetooth 2.0 device, audio output is totally broken, only can hear noise or garbage!
Please fix this incompatibility issue!
I upgraded to 12.0.1 this morning, got to work and discovered bluetooth audio doesn't play at all now. Since this worked fine yesterday, it's clearly related to the Apple update, and not the manufacturer.
My iPhone stopped playing audio over bluetooth immediately after the update. After trying all of the normal steps (resetting network, toggling Bluetooth on/off, forgetting then re-pairing device), I opened iTunes, and played a song, which immediately worked with Bluetooth, and after that all bluetooth audio returned. Once I stop listening to audio content other than in iTunes, it stops again, and I have to go back in and play something within iTunes for it to work everywhere else. I've had to do this twice this morning so far.
Perhaps your source for information should be the auto manufacturer, not Apple.

My car bluetooth 2.0 works fine with ios10, ios11 on my same phone, it now works fine with ios 9.3 with my iphone4s. It's broken with ios12 on iphone8, also broken with another iphone X on ios12.
ios 12.0.1 bluetooth is broken!
