i just bought the Iphone XS max 512 GB but it is heating up even if i run a small applications, i am wondering , i am using Iphone since 6s plus but first time i am facing this heating issue, its annoying me...hope it will be solved by next upgrade of the software. ( heating back side of the phone/ near to camera)

After the last IOS upgrade, its far better now, not heat like before, nice and doubble happy
It's a hardware issue since the Iphones don't have any kind of copper heatsink ! Let's hope the chipset is designed to sustain atleast 70 degree celsius ! Don't worry about thermal throttling until the next IPhone comes out.

I have the same issue alongside a bad battery life.
Battery draining like water on normal use and phone getting really hot.
I reported to Apple and going to the store for a replacement or repair.
if we compare with iphone 8 plus , the XS max is over heating even we use simple application like whatsap, Imessage..etc ( i am not talking about games, i know if we play for sure phone will heat up), so we all hope it will be solved by next iphone software upgrade ( IOS 12.0.2 )

Before if i use facebook it was very hot now its fine and right now i am facing issue with whatsap, when i send voice message through whtsap its heating UP
Iphone xs max not good, all of them facing heating issue or another issues, not happy at all
My iPhone XS Max has the same problem. With whatsapp, with safari and it working ten minuts.
What did they tell you at the support center?
