Apple logo screen saver kills chosen screen saver

Mac Mini ... I have the "Ken Burns" screen saver selected, and it starts and works just fine. But after an unknown period of time (but less than 24 hours), a different screen saver has taken over - the Apple logo and text that reads "Sam's Mac Mini" (name may have been changed to protect the innocent).

How can one screen saver take over from another?

(I am on the new OS but this was happening before I upgraded)

Mac mini (Late 2014), macOS Mojave (10.14)
