I upgraded my iPhone x to ios12.0.1 when I send messages from my MacBook which has the latest OS, they show up as new messages on my iPhone when they are just the ones I am sending. This never happened before the update. Also, sometimes the iMessages on my phone don't show up on the computer... all since updating to iOS 12. Please help

That sounds like the link between the iPhone Number and the Apple ID used on the Mac has broken.
On the iPhone in settings > Messages > Send and Receive Sign Out of the Apple ID.
Then use the Home and Power button method to restart the iPhone.
Sign back in to the Apple ID in the Messages settings.
A new pop up should appear on the Mac.
Accept this.
Also use the Sync Now option on the Mac version Messages > Preferences > Accounts to sync the iMessages.
