iPhone storage is full, but it’s not

I have an iPhone 6 running IOS 12.0.1. In Settings, it says iPhone storage is full, but under Manage Storage, it shows 51.9 GB of 64 GB used. Restarting does not fix. Everything seems to be working fine otherwise. The Settings icon always shows a “1”. Is there a fix?

You are right that your iCloud storage is not counted as part of your iPhone storage. It is possible that there is something (corrupted files probably) on your phone that is taking up space but cannot be displayed in Manage Storage. A factory reset may be needed. Be sure to backup first. Whatever is taking up the extra space should not be stored as part of the backup, such that when you restore from the backup, it would be gone from the phone. If you have treasured pictures pn your phone, be sure to save them on your computer or sync them to iCloud before doing a factory reset. Doing such a reset always runs a risk of losing something.

I know you're trying to help, but your answer is the same as all the other answers to this problem which didn't help. I know how to check my iPhone's storage as I had stated. I have read all the articles about managing storage. But I have 12 GB of free space on the phone out of 64 and it still says "iPhone Storage Full". There is obviously an error either in how IOS computes the available storage or how it determines when to set the indicator flag in Settings.

In case you need to know, I have 4.4 GB unused space out of 5 in iCloud. I wouldn't think this applies, but I haven't seen any documentation that says it doesn't.

Thanks for you attention!
