Before I upgraded this morning, I was working away just fine. Able to search with ease in Preview. Now my MacBook Air is slow and I cannot search in Preview.
Is it time to buy Acrobat?

There was a similar thread recently.
It is unclear why this sometimes happens but it seems that closing a pdf file and opening it again can make search work when this problem occurs. It is worth a try.
Well, Luis, I shut down the computer, made dinner, came back to work. Search is working fine in Preview. I think it was eating dinner that fixed it.

Thank you for such a quick reply. I'll try again next break. I restarted before I wrote the question (restarting being my single resource!).
Upgraded to Mojave, now Search in Preview won't work.
