Remove FileVault in Mojave

Hi! It's been over one week trying to remove FileVault from the computer, and the button is "stuck". There is no way to clic it. And, in addition when turning the equipment off, the screen turns dark grey, a "clock" appears and keeps turning indefinitely. At first the suspicion was that it could be FileVault's fault and that it continues to be so as I end up unplugging it from the wall (every day). BTW this began right after installing Mojave

You have to let Filevault complete the encryption—then you can turn it off.

You can see the progress: >System Preferences>Security & Privacy>FileVault

En/Decryption occurs in the background as you use your Mac, and only while your Mac is awake and plugged in to AC power. You can check progress in the FileVault section of Security & Privacy preferences.

Thank you. The situation is not disabling FIleVault while encrypting the computer, but disabling FileVault completely as it looks like this is what's creating all the problems.

try the

sudo fdesetup disable

command

You coud also try booting into Safe mode to see if that changes the Security preferences

If encryption is still in progress you cannot easily turn it off.

If it is not in progress, then make sure the padlock in the lower left corner is unlocked. If it is NOT unlocked, click on it to unlock it.

If you MUST disable FileVault while it is still encrypting, then you can use the following from an Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal session

sudo fdesetup disable

You will be asked for your password. When you type your password, nothing will echo, but each keystroke is being read by the Mac. After blindly entering your password, press the <return> key.

NOTE: When you disable FileVault this way, it has to now decrypt everything it has been encrypting, so it will be busy until the file system is fully decrypted.

Thank you very much. Yes, I have done all that. The problem is that it will not allow me to disable the FileVault button after it finished encrypting; and when I finish the day and turn the equipment off, the screen is dark grey and the clock can stay there forever so I have to unplug it from the AC power. It feels as I am forcing it. Since Mojave was installed, it's been doing this.
