Midi connection to Logic Pro X

I have been trying since August to be able to consistently connect my Nord to Logic Pro X app which I bought in order to be able to record songs...I have been able to connect it 3 times and 3 times only...I don't exactly know what I keep doing wrong/what I did right those 3 times...can anyone possibly tell me what I need to change in order to be able to finally use this application? Help would be greatly appreciated!

You're using the USB MIDI Out connection? Or are you using a MIDI interface and a standard 5-pin DIN MIDI cable?

If it[s the USB connection you're using, try a different cable. That's an older keyboard and it's possible the USB protocol is lagging. There's are firmware updates available but you need a Mac running Snow Leopard to install them.

The second solution would be a compatible MIDI interface and a MIDI cable.

Ok,

Honestly, we need more details, you're asking a question that has many possible answers but we can't help unless we know how the keyboard is being connected to the, what other hardware you're using, a MIDI interface, or and Audio Interface with MIDI built in, or just a MIDI interface.

Let's clarify...

MIDI and Audio are two separate things.

Do you have an Audio Interface?

Do you have an Audio Interface that also has MIDI ports?

Do you have a MIDI Interface?

We need to know the name of the manufacturer and the model number for the above.

With everything plugged in and on, go to Logic Preferences/Audio Set the Input and Output Devices appropriately, this is not MIDI, this is so you can hear Logic's output.

Create a new Software Instrument track, select a software instrument from the Library

Play the Nord, do you hear anything?

No, sorry... I'm a user like you, this is a user only forum, your best bet would be to call Apple, of find someone in your area. Or maybe someone here would accept a call. It's not wise to post any personal information on -any- public forum.

If you would just take one simple step at a time this would be a lot less confusing. Maytake some pictures of how your keyboard is attached (from the back) and what you have plugged in.
