I want to buy an apple pencil for my new iPad 2018, so I'm buying it from a store that is neither an apple store nor an apple re-seller, because it's cheaper than in the re-seller stores. I wonder if there is a way to make sure if the pencil is new and original or refurbished.

Generally, Apple package refurbished products in a plain white box - and not the full retail packaging. Full retail packaging from a third party, however, does not necessarily guarantee that the product contained therein is not a “return”.
At the end of the day, buying anything is a case of “buyer beware“. At the risk of stating what might be obvious, is the cost saving worth not having a full waranty - and/or the support of Apple Support if you have any difficulties?

I would have said no initially, but knowing the collective wisdom of this board, I took a look at my pencil.
Sure enough, there is a SN, it takes something slightly less powerful than the Space Hubble to see it, tho.
It took a while* to power up my mini Hubble but I got this

I don't know. Items can be repacked and it might be difficult to tell old from new.
You would want some type of guarantee from the seller that is same or exceeds Apple's for either refurb or new, wouldn't you?
