Magic Mouse 2 won't connect, MM1 working fine

I charged my magic mouse 2 last night overnight and this morning it won't connect. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I called apple care, she just suggested an SMC reset which worked fine. I reset the SMC again this morning after the mouse wouldn't connect after charging and it still won't connect. But my old magic mouse 1 is working fine, so I know the problem isn't in the iMac, it's in the MM2. I've turned it off and on several times, connected by USB, nothing. The only time the computer recognizes anything with the MM2 is when it's connected via USB and I turn it off, I get a notification that it's turned off. No notification when I turn it back on, or disconnect/connected notifications.

How can I fix this?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Try resetting the SMC again. Sometimes it takes more than once. If it doesn't work, if you have access to another Mac you can test it with try that. If not, you may have to take it to a local Apple Store or AASP.
