One user account's cursor size reverts to default when logging back in

We have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.13.6. My husband has impaired vision, and sets his cursor size (under accessibility-display in system preferences) to be fairly large. When I switch to my account using fast switching, my cursor size setting stays at whatever I've set. However, when he switches back to his user account, it always has defaulted to the smallest setting; he has to go to the accessibility settings and select it each time he logs back in. We can't figure out why we can't get his setting to stay. Other accessibility settings in his user account (grayscale, for example) will stay at whatever he sets. Please help!

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)
