Siri; raise to speak crashing(?)

Greetings,

Ive been a AWseries4 user since 3 weeks now, and its all good, its all nice.. recently had an issue with my email notifications but managed to deal with it (by restoring my iphone). So i am happy..

However.............there is 1 issue that is bothering me from the start, and unfortunately i do have the feeling that there is not much i can do about it... simply because i already re-paired/restored the 'iPhone - Apple Watch situation' due to my previous issue with notifications..and it did not solve this particular Siri issue.

The problem;

It is the use of Siri when raising my arm!

I raise my arm, immediately start speaking, seeing Siri being activated (like it should be)... am able to notice my spoken text being displayed on the Watch, noticing a Haptic thing on my wrist but.....! right away it return straight back to my Watch Face... so......whenever i raise to speak, i ask Siri something to do, i see my text being typed on the screen but before Siri reponds with an answer it just returns to the Watch Face.. without any Siri-result.. and this happems 75% of the time i use the 'raise to speak' - Siri option.

remarks;

- it never happens like this when i manually activate Siri (by pressing the crown). Siri never crashed when doing this.

Why do i experience this problem? More people have this issue as well?

Same here. It works for some things like asking for the current weather or my current location but it crashes on many things. One sure way to make it crash is to ask for current altitude. It all works ok if you start with “Hey Siri.” I’ll call Apple to report it.

Just one question: I don’t recall having the problem with watchOS 5.0. Just 5.1 (which somehow didn’t brick my Series 4) and as of today 5.1.1. But I don’t think I used “Raise to Speak” that much. Has this issue arisen since the update or did it exist before? I really can’t remember.

The series 4 came with watchOS5, it came with the issue. If i try the feature a 100 times, it’ll crashes back to the watch face 98 times. The 2 successful attempts are weather related.

Anyway, it’s better to give up as today we again saw an update being released (5.1.1) and again (the 3rd update since I got the watch, since I have this problem) there is no solution. Again the feature as advertised is not available.

Looking at how Apple releases faulty software (5.1), bricking thousands of brand new watches, the lack of any public statement ( I haven’t seen any, it’s not even mentioned in 5.1.1 changelog), the lack of getting rid of bugs and incomplete pieces of software, I can only conclude that Apple doesn’t really care..

I guess they want me to stop buying their stuff(?)

Agree, the update to 5.1.1 didn't fix the bug.

As already stated, the raise to speak function works randomly (2 times out of 100 is a good assumption) no matter what is asked (for instance, mine never works on weather questions, so I guess there's no apparent correlation between topics and device behaviour).

Let's wait for further workarounds from Apple or this community.

Thanks.

I still have this issue. I went to an apple store to buy a 40mm for my wife , and while I was waiting for the new watch to be brought to me I did mention the raise-to-speak issue with Siri.

The employee was a bit surprised and recommended me to launch a complaint.

Unfortunately I did not had time to stay behind and have it al arranged, so I went home and gave my wife her new 40mm series 4 watch.

Now... I asked her to try the raise-to-speak function.... and she has the same issue (crashing, back to watch face) like me!

I wonder how come nobody complains about it as it is quite clear it’s an issue that is most likely wide-spread
