If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPodWhen iTunes on your computer doesn't recognize your connected device, you might see an unknown error or a "0xE" error. If you do, follow these steps and try to connect your device again after each step:
- Make sure that your iOS device is unlocked and on the Home screen.
- Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes that works with your computer.
- Check that you have the latest software on your Mac or Windows PC.
- Make sure that your device is turned on.
- If you see a Trust this Computer alert, unlock your device and tap Trust.
- Unplug all USB accessories from your computer except for your device. Try each USB port to see if one works. Then try a different Apple USB cable.
- Restart your computer and iPhone, iPad, or iPod.
- Try connecting your device to another computer. If you have the same issue on another computer, contact Apple Support.
If you use a Mac
- Connect your iOS device and make sure that it's unlocked and on the Home screen.
- On your Mac, hold down the Option key, click the Apple menu, and choose System Information or System Report.
- From the list on the left, select USB.
- If you see your iPhone, iPad, or iPod under USB Device Tree, uninstall third-party security software. If not, contact Apple Support.
Well that is just the problem, error 3201 occurs only when attempting to download a purchase from iTunes on a iMac Pro, and has nothing to do with a connected device, iPhone or iPod. And only occurs after installing Mojave, used the MacBook Pro still using El Capitan to download the movies without a problem.
Sign in to the iTunes Store on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Apple TVOn your Mac or PC

So I attempted the safe mode trial with the same error appearing with downloads (-3201)
And also with signing out of iTunes and restarting and I am still have the same error (-3201) when trying to download a purchase.
I was checking my disk permissions as per the replies.
my iTunes is stored on a External drive. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) turned out I only had 500mb available. Freeing up some space resolved the -3201 error.
Imac Pro and 10.14.1
Movies National treasure 2, Forrest Gump, Avengers: Infinity War
Despite the above steps error 3201 is continuing to occur with purchase downloads
Yes, updated to 10.14.1, but not resolved.
Content is stored on the Mac system disk (APFS).
Problem seems to occur on some accounts only, not all.
Make sure that your profile has full read and write permissions to the iTunes folder and all subfolders. Use Get Info on the iTunes folder in Finder. Click the lock at the bottom right to make changes. Make sure that Locked isn't ticked and that your own account has Read & Write access, then use the gear icon to Apply to enclosed items and confirm. Repeat with the media folder if on a different path.

Have you upgraded to macOS 10.14.1 yet? Where is your media folder stored? It looks like macOS 10.14 had issues with content stored on FAT32/exFAT and some NAS protocols. These issues may all be resolved in macOS 10.14.1.

Same here.
I can't believe the support person didn't even read the question properly. How can you refer to iOS if Mojave is mentioned in the question... 😕
Yes, running out of space can cause problems too. 😉
