Why are texts now dark blue or dark green?

Blue = iMessage
Green = SMS/MMS

In Messages, a blue balloon is for an iMessage, and a green balloon is for an SMS.
Key word is “dark”.
Excuse me. Do you both have the same version of the iPhone? It could be screen colors, or other settings on the phone. I've not noticed any difference in mine, however I have an iPhone X.
I'm glad. I knew there had to be a difference somewhere in the Settings that could cause that, so when people say they have two the same, that is the best way to check is to look at settings for both devices together and compare. Glad you got it figured out.
Yes, thanks. They are both the same. I can’t figure it out. After the update my messages are like Royal Blue and Olive Green, lol. It’s cool but I was just wondering why. Then after my wife’s didn’t change after she did the update...well! You’d think Apple could explain this, but they never explain anything. Some have told me it’s gradient, that they get lighter the further back you scroll, but that’s not true. At least mine don’t.
Well, did you ask Apple to explain it? I do not recall seeing anyone else mention this, but then that is not unusual. Do you have any differences in Display, or Accessibility that could account for the change?
Yes, I asked Apple, but they haven’t replied yet...if they ever do. Everything’s the same and working well. It just has my curiosity up, but I probably won’t loose any sleep. I haven’t asked my sons yet, so I guess I need to do that. My daughter never updates anyway...lol. Thanks for your responses, and if you find an answer, please let me know.
Hey ChrisJ. It’s now solved!!! Under accessibility settings, increase contrast was turned on. I turned it off and they went back to he old colors. I’m leaving it on tho cuz I kinda like the dark colors.

No, I already know that. Question is why are they dark blue and dark green since iOS 12. My wife’s iPhone didn’t do that.
