Disable iCloud photo links in Message app?

When sending a Message containing multiple photos, iOS 12 now sends a 30-day link to photos in iCloud rather than just send the photo files. How can I disable this "feature"?

Note: This is not the same as sharing albums.

Apparently you cannot disable it. If you are using iOS 12, and you are also using iCloud Photos, then that is how multiple photos are going to be sent in Messages. The link does not prevent recipients from downloading some or all of the phtotos from the link so they can store them in their own local albums.

The only way to continue to be able to send messages without the link would be to turn off iCloud Photos.

Can you explain what the issue you are having is?

Thank you for answering, Gail. My issue is that it's stupid.

I want to be able to send images and not put the burden on the receiver to have to manually download their images.

Most people equate their texts to email. I depend on going back in my emails years or even decades to find an image someone sent me. What if I needed an image from a 32 days ago only to discover that it no longer exists because I didn't remember to download it? What if I sent a client an important photo and they tell me they don't have it because the link to the image no longer exists?

I also don't like to have to manually remember to save every image to my local album. If I scroll a couple months backwards through my message thread to reference a photo, I want to be sure it's going to be there -- in the context of the conversation. Users should possess the ability to turn link sharing off.
