‘Download error’ on imported video from sd card

Having problems viewing videos downloaded from sd card using the Apple sd card reader.

using new iPad Pro (iOS 12) - videos transfer ok but when click to play I get an ⚠ image and the message ‘download error’ - nothing further that would provide any assistance such as an error code

Photos download and view fine. Videos transfer perfectly to my I-phone (ios 10)

suggests that hat the sd card adapter is ok

any thoughts?

I have a very new iPad Pro 12" which definitely has plenty of free space available. When attempting to importing video footage from my DJI Mavic Air 2 drone, I am receiving the message that the iPad does not have enough storage. Checking the iPad storage, I see that there is over 200GB storage free. Then when I jump back into import again, the iPad is miraculously able to import my video content. This seems to be a consistent issue for many users. Would be great to get a fix.

Files app caching SD card, no longer reads SD cards I use an Apple card reader to get photos/videos off my camera. Currently on iOS 16.3.1 and recently, the Files app has been showing an SD card even when one is not inserted - and no longer sees files on any SD card. When an SD card is inserted, the Photos app will show the Import tab but upon selecting Import it thinks all cards are empty. The exact same cards and adapter work on other peoples iPhones, the problem is the Files app caching an empty SD card and refusing to read anything else. I have deleted and reinstalled the Files app and that makes no difference. Any ideas other than factory resetting the whole phone for a bug that may reoccur the next day (ie a fix or workaround rather than the nuclear option)?

SD card reader for iPhone Xs I used a SD card reader to import jpegs from my camera into my iPhone 5s via the lighting port. It worked great. Now I have an iPhone Xs and it doesn’t. Nothing happens when I plug it in. Still works fine on my iPad Pro. Both are running IOS 12.1.3. Anyone else having a similar problem?
