Function Keys Changed

The F1-F12 function keys on my Mac changed all of a sudden. They all started doing different things. I tried to go into keyboard preferences and managed to restore F1 and F2, but there are no other options to change the rest. Does anyone know how to do this?

Then I suspect something amiss with the install of the OS, or some 3rd party SW interfering.

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

I’m really not too sure what happened. I was typing something on the keyboard and all of a sudden this text box popped up on the right and it had all this coding stuff and html <> texts (I have zero insight into this area 😂). Then after I managed to get that to disappear, all the functions went weird. But when I managed to open that box again, there weren’t any options to change those kinds of things.
