Can't delete pictures from text messages.

I've been having this problem since ios 9. Whenever someone sends me a picture, I save it to my camera roll then delete it from the message. The problem is almost every time I have to delete the picture three times before it will actually be removed from the message.

I've tried everything I can think of and the people at the apple store don't know what to make of it. I've even wiped my phone and re-entered all of my information manually and I still have this problem, amongst many others.

I have the iphone SE on ios 12.0.1

iPhone SE, iOS 12.0.1, null

I am not completely missing the point. I have no problem doing it the way you want to do it, and I just did it on three colleagues phones. There is no issue. Works fine in one try without issue.

I merely tried to give you a workaround since it is not working on your device.

There is no flaw in the iOS, and if it hasn’t been working for you since iOS 9, why did you wait so long to find a fix?

I guess I should have been more clear. I know how to delete the photos.

When I delete one or click the "i" next to the persons name to show all the pictures in the message and delete multiple ones from there, they just pop right back up. I delete them again, this time only a couple pop back up. And finally I delete the remainder of the ones I tried to delete the first time and they are finally gone. On average it takes me 3 times to delete a picture from a text message.

Ok. Got it. Theres a much easier way.

go to settings> iPhone storage> messages>Review large attachments

there you can tap to view full size...or if you know you saved it already...( and don’t need to review full size)

either swipe left to delete - or tap edit.

Then you will see a list of thumbnails of your attachments.

you can tap the circle to the left of each one you want to delete and then tap the trash icon.

You mentioned having this problem since iOS 9 amongst many others. I’m thinking it’s your device. It’s definitely not the iOS.

I submitted a question about this same issue almost a year ago and not one single person replied to it so I figured I’d try again.

This problem started with iOS 9 upgrade on my iPhone 5s, no problems with this issue before that. I upgraded to the iPhone SE a little over a year ago and still had the same problem so it’s not the device.

Like I stated above I wiped the device and entered everything manually and still wound up with the same problem.

Furthermore, since iOS 7, every time I update the os I loose some contacts.

Still no help from the “genius bar” with either of these issues.

That certainly is interesting that you had the issue on a pervious phone.

It makes me wonder if maybe you set your phone up exactly the same way, hence it causes it to replicate the issue? I searched your issue via google and was taken back to this conversation.

Are you on Twitter? If so, reach out to @AppleSupport there. But, do it when you have time and not at work/school.

They will work with you through the issue and try to isolate it.

*side note: Do you save all of your text messages? If not, perhaps setting up auto delete would be helpful to you. You would have to remember to save each photo that you receive via text- then, let the auto delete do the rest.
