I am unable to update my card info. I checked with my bank and everything is fine. I do not have an unpaid balance at all. What to do? I have an option to add funds to a gift card but again my card info needs to be verified. Plus I don’t feel like I should be limited to buying myself a gift card. It should just accept my card information in the first place.

This is a user to user support forum. No one here can access your account to see what the issue is. Are you entering your details exactly the way the bank has them on file? See About payment card authorization holds from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support. If the store is blocked from making such a hold, usually of the order of $1/£1, then verification will fail. Contact iTunes - Official Apple Support for assistance.
