Earpod compatibility

I have been using the EarPods with 3.5 mm Headphone Plug on a Huawei p20 since one month - was working perfectly.Now it is compatible with laptops and other devices except the huawei p20 and other android devices. The phone does not detect the earpods and play on loudspeaker. Any help ?
