How do I change from the white screen that now appears after the recent update?

Screen Flashes White then Makes Me Log In Over and Over At random points throughout the past few days, my screen will flash white and bring me to the log in page. When I log in, it looks like I restarted the computer with programs I was using opening back up again. Then, after about 3 minutes, it does the same thing again. And it won't stop until I restart it. I'm running Catalina 10.15.6. It is a school issued computer but I have automatic updates off and they don't have access to anything unless it breaks. I figured I would ask here before I went to them because their IT department is a little useless unfortunately.
