I have been having issues with my iPods volume level. I have the volume limit set to max, I have even changed the volume adjustment to +100% and I still have to keep the volume turned up all the way. If use the iPod outside its pretty much pointless seeing that the volume is to low to hear anything. When I first got this iPod in Oct. it was very loud, any idea what has happened? I have also tried different headphones to no avail. I bought this ipod for my daily train ride to work, but I cannot hear it on the train, sidewalk, bathroom, etc....

I'm having the same problem, but I've only been using my iPod (video/30gb) for nearly two months. I seldom listened to music and max volume, but it seems that the left ear-bud is going dead. Similarly the volume range of the iPod has decreased severely. Even when I jack it up to speakers I'm getting about 2/3 the original maximum volume. I now have to listen to music on full for a comfortable experience. It's not a problem with the volume limitation feature. Do I bring it in the Geek Squad, and will doing so violate warranty terms?
Inside your iPod there is two wires connecting the harddrive to the headphone jack. Each of those wires have 2 seperate insulated wires inside of then. One is positive(+) ans one is negative(-). If the wires somehow got reversed or one came loose, the sound will become dramatically lower. Your iPod may just need servicing. Try taking it into a BestBuy store to have the GeekSquad look at it.
Hope this helps.

I guess I'll just stop by the Apple store, thanks for the help
I had this problem with my Ipod Nano a couple of months ago. what I found was the issue was that I had the Sound Check set to on in the settings. By turning the sound check off this appeared to give my Ipod more volume. It maybe worth trying this before taking it into a store and letting them look at it.
iPod volume is too low!!!!
