Downgrading to a specific iTunes version

I recently upgraded from Lion to High Sierra, but I'm unhappy with most versions of iTunes after 12.2.2.25 (last available vers. for Lion) that I've tried so far.

Can I uninstall the current version of iTunes (using a typical uninstaller app like AppCleaner), then move a copy of iTunes 12.2.2.25 from my Lion partition to my HS one?

In other words, can I uninstall/install the app like any other app, or does iTunes fall under that category of special apps where you need the actual installer DMG to install it?

To be honest, I first looked for the installer DMG for 12.2.2.25, but Apple has removed it for some reason. They still offer several other versions, even older ones, but not 12.2.2.25, so weird... Let me know, thank you.

Hi, thank you for replying to me.

That's actually the exact version I'm using right now.

Unfortunately it's buggy. It has crashed on me three times after merely dragging the player dot all the way to the end of some specific songs. Those songs wouldn't have iTunes 12.2. in Lion crash.

Also there's no hearts in the player on the top side of the window even though, the songs are loved.

Also, no custom colors for albums...

It's just not as good as 12.2 in Lion...

I really can't just drag iTunes 12.2 from my Lion partition to my HS one? Do I have to find the installer DMG for it?

😓

Edit: Also I dislike the way Grouping is bugging with Work/Movement...

Thank you for the suggestion, but really, I think I'm better of with v. 12.2, since I feel like "why fix something that's not broken in the first place" (at least to me).

So, as I previously asked, is the installer DMG necessary when installing iTunes, or I can just copy v. 12.2 from my Lion partition and it'll be fine?

Only asking cause usually when an installer is involved with certain apps (e.g. Microsoft Office or Adobe Photoshop, etc.), it's usually because it installs, seeeveral files throughout one's HD, as opposed to the typical Mac OS app installation of just dragging an app in your Applications folder.

Is that the case with iTunes as well, or a simple copy-paste of v. 12.2 from my Lion partition to my HS one (after of course uninstalling it first) will be enough?

Again, thank you for your time. ☺

By the way, just in case I need to update the version in the future:

Since the values one edits in Grouping are no longer saved in the song's metadata by default (as of 12.5 iirc), could I migrate my data from Grouping to, say... Description, or Comments, or even Composer (given that Composer isn't of major importance to me, as I choose to include it elsewhere anyway)?

Are we aware of any other field in a song's metadata, besides Grouping, behaving in a similar bugging manner, not saving the metadata in the song itself or whatever?

Thanks

Got it.

There's also another question I'd like to ask you, and it's a little bit off topic, but this will eventually determine whether I'll need to upgrade in the future or not.

I haven't owned an iPhone in so many years, so I have no way of knowing other than asking.

If I edit a song's info on my iPhone (album name, or composer, or whatever else) then plug it in my MacBook and open iTunes and click sync.

What will happen?

a. the changes from that edit in my iPhone's library will be mirrored back to my iTunes library.

b. the changes on my iPhone will be cancelled and the song's info will be reverted to what it's originally saved in my iTunes library.

c. nothing; the song's info will remain as is in my iTunes library, and also as is in my iPhone's library. Same song, just different metadata.

Sorry again, if it's off topic. I just thought I shouldn't clutter the section with a specific thread for this. Thanks.

You cannot edit metadata on an iPhone. Ratings and play counts should syncing in either direction if you sync the device as opposed to manually managing it. If you have a habit of changing the metadata for store purchases you may occasionally find that iTunes or your device can revert to showing the original store version of the metadata. I might hide these items from my purchase history as a workaround.
