Time Scheduled Dark Mode?

Hey!

Could dark mode be set to be activated at a certain time? Kind of how Night Shift works on an iPhone, where you can choose when you would like it to activate and deactivate. Dark mode is better for my eyes when I want to use my MacBook Pro at the evening, and I want the bright mode on during the day.

Having to change between the two modes is something I would not want to have to do every day.

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 TBT3), iOS 12.0.1, null

Apple doesn’t provide such functionality, but some time ago when was searching the web for the answer to the same question, I found the App NightOwl https://nightowl.kramser.xyz/ However if you don’t want to use any 3’rd party app, you can look at this discussion Here's how to schedule Dark Mode to turn on at night without any 3rd party apps | MacRumors Forumswhere basically you can use apple script and calendar.

Greetings, andlarse.

I see that you'd like to be able to schedule Dark Mode on your MacBook Pro to start at a certain time the same way you schedule Night Shift on your phone. I'm happy to help.

How to use Dark Mode on your Mac -- Dark Mode needs to be physically turned on and off.

How to use Night Shift on your Mac -- But, you can use Night Shift on your Mac as instead.

Take care!

I am testing an automatic Lightmode/Darkmode switcher based on time of day this afternoon. Testing if it will wake up at 6pm this evening and set Dark mode, and then again when I first sign in tomorrow morning to switch to Light mode works.

If it works, I will post it here tomorrow morning. It would be handy if you had a programmer's editor handy such as a BBEdit trial. You will need this to edit your specific time values, and your short username.
