OneDrive not opening

I recently update the OneDrive app on my MacBook Pro via the Mac App Store. Since the update was done, OneDrive will no longer open and instead I get a pop up message that says:

OneDrive cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure OneDrive works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.

Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.

To install OneDrive requires that I download it from the Mac App Store which recognises that I have the app on my account. I just did the update which appears to have caused the problem in the first place. I am running an older OS X (Yosemite 10.10.5), but it doesn't make sense for the App Store to update an app that isn't compatible with the operating system.

I have clicked report to send the information to Apple. I have looked for solutions but can't find any. Has anyone else had the same issue? Does anyone have any recommendations.
