I have to use FireFox or Chrome to access my Cox Email and many times Safari is so slow that I revert to FireFox. I prefer to use Safari. What should I do?

Recently I have to use FireFox or Chrome to access my Cox email and many time Safari runs so slowly that I must revert to using other browsers. I prefer to use Safari and I have frequently cleared my History and it doesn't help. What else should I do? Thanks!

You can try going to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.


Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Another option is if you have a backup, you can restore your computer to a backup made prior to installing Safari 12. Individual applications included as part of the OS can't be restored.


If you are running 10.13.6 as your profile shows, you can boot into the Recovery Partition and reinstall the OS to revert to Safari 11.
