What to do to open files ending in .emi ?
MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)
I googled '.emi extension' though several sites came up the only thing offered was Pocket Tanks, so I'm afraid I don't know. Try dragging the file onto TextEdit and see whether it can open it and at least give some indication of what it is.
Are you sure it is .emi and not .eml?
An .eml file is a Microsoft Outlook email file. You may be able to open it in Apple Mail, or TextEdit should show the contents albeit with some programming garbage.
the suffix to several files-received has been: .emi (having, to my knowledge, nothing to do with
the game Pocket Tanks.
Looking for how to convert a file with the suffix .emi.... to a file-type typically used with Macs...

Ans. No. As shown in the Q. , an " i " and an " l " are readily indistinguishable (at least they are in the
font and size I receive such files.
If the correct format is .eml , my question remains: How can I view a file which ends with .eml ( "L"..) to
be clear )

i and l are not indistinguishable. and it makes a lot of difference. .emi is not the same as .eml.
