New iPad Pro USB-C audio out connection

Using the USB-C port on a new iPad Pro will I be able to connect an external DAC and / or headphone amplifier using a USB-C to a relevant connector (in my case USB-B) or will I also need to use an Apple CCK (USB-C to USB-A input and then USB-A to USB-B connector in my case) as is the case with the Lightning port requiring a relevant CCK?

Essentially I'm wondering whether Apple USB-C on iPad Pro supports digital audio out directly to a device or is there something such a special chip in the CCK which is required?

I am using the usb-c to USB adapter from Apple. I think any adapter could work as long as it does not have audio out.

I tried Chord Mojo, Fiio E7 and USB port from Sennheiser PXC550. They all work beautifully. I guess any usb DAC could work as long as it does not require extra driver.

Yes, I checked a few with the usb-c adapter from Apple. It works great. I could confirm from my Chord Mojo that it could even send over DSD without any issue.

These are Apple user to user technical support communities for existing Apple products.

We are just lowly users here. Just like you.

We know no more than you about Apple's new iPad Pro other than what Apple has already officially reported.

Apple stores are not even getting these new iPad Pros until Nov. 7.

Hi Thanks for your reply I’m sure I’m being a bit dim because I can’t fathom which adapter to buy I too am trying to connect my late 2018 IPad Pro to a headphone DAC/Amp (Chord Mojo) Could you just tell me exact which adapter you are referring to? I think I need to go to USB c to Micro-USB but can’t see that on the apple website?
