Mojave menu bar annoyance

For various reasons I really liked to have the dark menu bar in High Sierra and previous OSX.

But now I can only have the dark menu bar with the Dark theme ... which I find ugly, annoying, and find it hard to read white text on black. Also the contrast between the dark (black) of the menu and tool bars with the stark white of a typical web page is just irritating.

Does anyone know of a tweak or an app that gives the use back control of the menu bar appearance?
