None of the above worked. It should be obvious that I have an internet connection otherwise how would I post this from my Mac. I tried using my iPhone's personal hotspot rather than my ethernet connection and I got the same message. None of my other apps on the Mac have any problem connecting to the internet and I know I'm missing a bunch of updates of OS-X.
