Playing SMIL files with QuickTime player - problem with REPEAT attribute
I am having some difficulty having media repeat from a SMIL file using the repeat attribute. The file repeats fine when using RealPlayer, but won't repeat using QuickTime player. Does QuickTime support the repeat attribute? Or am I stuck using RealPlayer (which I really don't want to use). I have also tried using Ambulent player with no luck.
I don't know enough about SMIL to know whether the "repeat" tag is a feature of SMIL 1 or version 2.
QuickTime only supports version 1 features.
I use Real Player for all of my SMIL files for this reason.
Unfortunately, this won't allow control of individual media elements within the smil file. This will only loop the entire movie once all elements have played to the end.
Thanks for the resonse. I think that unfortunately QuickTime may only support smil 1.0. Any reference I have found on the web only refers to QuickTime 4.1 supporting only 1.0. I can't find any info on more recent versions of QuickTime. And I really don't want to use Real if I can avoid it at all.
Yeah.
Really old data about SMIL and QuickTime.
Apple is moving (somewhere) but I couldn't point to any direction.
This is the reason I've "turned off" SMIL in QuickTime Player and use Real for playback of those files I do come across.
