Can't find the new printer

About a month ago I upgraded to macOS Mojave, and had no problems air printing to our old printer. Today we got a new printer and even though my wife's tablet and my phone could find the new printer, my Macbook Pro cannot find it. Has anyone else experienced a problem like that? And if so, how did you overcome it?

Thanks in advance, because my frustration level is pretty high about now, and I could use the help.

OBS MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.4/2.2 GHz), macOS Mojave (10.14)

What kind of printer is it?

Did you try restarting the machine, the router, and the printer?

Try downloading and installing this this to see if it makes any difference,

Driver - HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer series | HP® Customer Support

Are you able to connect this printer your Mac via cable, and if so does the Mac recognise it.

If you can't print from your Mac or iOS device - Apple Support

It's a HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.

Tried all the things you mentioned with no luck. What's weird is that I can see the printer when I click on the wifi icon at the top right of the screen. But yet the system preferences can'y find it. That leads me to believe that there's something going on this new macOS Mojave 10.14 that I installed about a month ago.

Nope, same network/wifi, etc.

And what's really strange is that when I hardwire the printer to my laptop, my laptop still can't find it. Yet, my phone sees the printer and my wife's tablet connected to it, no sweat.

If I understand what you mean by seeing the printers when clicking on the wifi icon, is it possible the machine and the printer are on different networks? Sorry to not be of any help…
