I’m trying to sign in to iCloud on my new IPad, but...

After I enter my Apple ID and stuff, and go through the verification code, it asks me for a passcode. I don’t remember this passcode, and I can’t find anywhere where I can reset it. What can I do?User uploaded file

It is undoubtedly asking for your Lock Screen passcode. If you use FaceID or TouchID, you also have to have a 6-digit passcode that allows to you enter your device if there is a problem with either the facial or touch recognition. Whatever you supplied for that passcode at the time should be the code you need.

The other possibility is that it is your iCloud Keychain passcode (I don't use Keychain, so I'm a bit in the dark here). But is it possible that it wants your iCloud Keychain passcode?

Hello ShrunkAxolotl and thanks for choosing Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that you're unable to get past entering your passcode. You also mentioned that you do not remember setting up this passcode. I am happy to provide some information that might help you out.

The way to bypass the passcode is to restore your device.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

When you get the pop up to either restore as new or update, choose update. If the update does not work you will have to restore as new.

Keep me posted on your progress.
