Transferring emails to new ipad

I have just bought a new iPad. All good, except that I appear to have lost access to emails and my calendar. What have I done wrong? Help please.

Hello pwh77,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you do not have access to emails and your calendar on your new iPad. I would be happy to help point you towards a resolution.

I would like to start by having you go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts to confirm if you see your email accounts listed. If so, tap on an account from this screen, then confirm Mail and Calendars has been enabled.

If you don't see your email account listed, try adding the account to your iPad following the steps here:

Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If this is not the issue you're encountering, could you please provide more detail about the behavior you're experiencing?

Cheers!

Hi pwh77,

Glad to hear you were able to sort out the mail issue. As far as the calendar events missing: try going to Settings > Calendars > Sync and confirm that you have selected a time frame that encompasses the dates for events you would like to sync. Next, open the Calendar app and tap on the word Calendars along the bottom of your screen. You'll want to confirm that the specific calendar you're looking for has a check to the left of the name so it's set to appear in the Calendar app.

If this is an iCloud calendar that's missing, you may be able to restore it from an earlier version archived to iCloud:

iCloud: Restore contacts, calendars, and more in iCloud Settings

Take care!

Dear CarlosP

Very many thanks. I had expected that my main email account would have been listed since my lesser one was. Now I've followed the steps you suggested and all is well (except that, bafflingly, many of my ordinary emails have been consigned to Junk - but that is another matter).

I haven't been able to make progress with retrieving the Calendar (my diary) though. It is enabled but all the contents, forward and back, have disappeared, and I'm more or less resigned to haveing lost them for good.

Thank you again.
