Let's come back to my other questions:

  • Do the spots appear in the same place on all photos?
  • Do they appear under all lighting conditions?

And I'll add:

  • Do the spots appear regardless of how far away the subject is from the camera?
  • Do they appear with all backgrounds?
  • If you change the angle you are holding the camera at when snapping does anything change?

To make clear my thinking, I don't believe it's a hardware or software defect in the phone. It it was a sensor defect the spots would have sharp edges. And software doesn't add anything to an image, and again, anything it might add would have sharp edges. So I'm thinking its something in the environment that is being reflected into the camera.

As far as the lighting question, the lens is ruby "glass". If there is a light way off to the side it can cause a reflection in the lens that will create pink spots.

Do you mean the selfie camera or the camera on the opposite face of the phone from the display? There is not universal agreement on what "front" means.

Have you tried cleaning the lens of whichever camera it is? Do the spots appear in the same place on all photos? Do they appear under all lighting conditions?

Do you have a screen protector that covers the camera if you mean the selfie camera? I ask because one possibility is there is a reflection off the back of the screen protector from proximity sensor, which has a faint red light and is close to the selfie camera.
