I restored my iPad 3 and i cannot download netflix, garageband, teamviewer etc, making my iPad useles

At the end of October 2018 I restored my iPad to factory settings. I wanted to get rid of years of junk quickly and did not made a backup.

Saddly, I found out that I can't download several apps I already owned, anymore: Netflix, TeamViewer, GarageBand etc. I get the same message :"Netflix is not compatible with this iPad". My iPad is useles, because its primary use was Netflix and monitoring my "home server" through TeamViewer.

I tried some workarrounds (installing iTunes 12.6.4) that found here, but I was out of luck. The irony is that AppStore kept updating those apps until August 2018 but now does not let me anyware near the older compatible versions.

So sceptical about buying Apple gear again.

If the above procedure hasn't work for you, here is what you need to do using the latest iTunes 12.6.5.

iTunes 12.6.5 found here.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208079

iTunes 12.6.5 for the Mac requires OS X El Capitàn 10.11.4 or later.

If you have already downloaded the recent 12.7/8/9.x versions of iTunes, NONE of what I have wriiten here in this post reply may work!

You will need to use an older iTunes version and once it is downloaded and installed on your computer, at launch, hold down the Opt/Alt key on your keyboard while launching this older iTunes version, so you can create a new Tunes library.

BEFORE DOING the IMMEDIATELY ABOVE, if you use iTunes on a computer and already have an iTunes Library, you will need to find the iTunes Library folder on your computer ( usually located in folder labelled Music ) and, temporarily, move/copy this folder to another location so you do not accidentally write over your existing current iTunes library.

Then, back on your iPad, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

If you are successful in getting apps on this iPad, consider looking for more “up to date”, third party iOS web browsers for that version of iOS.

I would STOP using that 2-2-1/2 year old Safari web browser, as it is, probably, not safe and secure to use any longer, and seek out a third party web browser that is STILL currently being updated and STILL being supported on iOS 9.3.5.

Here are a few third party web browsers that I know are STILL being updated and supported on iOS 9.

Popular third party, iOS 9 and earlier compatible Web browsers are more quickly dwindling, now.

iOS 9 users have gone from 10 popular, third party Web browser, now down to six.

Here is what is left.

iCab Mobile Web browser

Dolphin Web browser

Snow Bunny Web browser

Private Browsing Web browser

Aloha Web browser

Maxthon Web browser

Your post's title says "iPad 3", which was released by Apple in March, 2012. Your profile says "iPad 2", which was released by Apple in March, 2011. Either way, the most recent iOS version the iPad can use is iOS 9.3.5, which was released by Apple in 2016.

iTunes 12.6.4 was released by Apple in April, 2018. The current version of iTunes is 12.9.

I do not work for Apple, and I understand your point. But vendors generally do not keep old stuff available for all that long. The current Netflix version, for example, supports iOS 11 and later.

I listed all the dates, but the main point of showing them is that your hardware is dated by at least 6½ years.

In the iOS App Store under the Purchased tab/section/button at the bottom menu of the iOS App Store app, on the older iPad model, look until you find all of your problem purchased apps in that list.

Then, try tapping the download “cloud” icon next to the app, in this location, to see if the small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device. Would you like to download this version now?

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

MichelPM thank you for your help.

I followed the steps you suggested and succeeded in downloading only Spotify.

Netflix and Teamviewer are still not compatible with my iPad any more (meaning there is no older version in apple’s servers)

As another member suggested my iPad 3 is a very old piece of tech. It also happens to be in a very good condition and until two weeks ago performed well in everyday tasks. I cannot accept the fact that I have to upgrade my expensive gear because Apple removed older versions of their servers , but I am still stuck with their app signing procedures. This is absurd!

Did you try my iTunes method?

Netflix has, or up until recently, had, older Netflix versions on Apple's iOS App servers that went all the way back to iOS 5.1.1.

Try my iTunes method, if you haven't tried it and try it again, if you did.

Many users, for some unknown reason, cannot get my iTunes method to work the first time.

Give it another go.

I was about to post an update right now!

I did try your method and at the first time only Spotify worked. After a couple of hours I repeated the whole procedure and worked with Netflix , TeamViewer, GarageBand etc. Everything is OK now. Probably there is something wrong into registering older gear to apple store. But older versions were all there!

Thanks again MichelPM!
