How do I stop programs from automaticlly loading when I restart my mac?

Three things…

1. When you restart or shut down, make sure "Reopen…" is unchecked.

2. Check System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items is empty.

3. Some apps have log in on startup set in their preferences. Change the setting.

You can also go into System Preferences-Users and Groups-Login Items and remove any programs you no longer want at start-up.
