iTunes not displaying my Audiobooks

This is a very strange one. I have a very large collection of audiobooks that I've been collecting for decades, mostly from CD's. For the last couple of incarnations of iTunes they appeared under the selection "Audiobooks" in iTunes and when synced to my phone and played in the iBooks app. Well and good. But now, when I go to iTunes under the Audiobooks selection, there is not sidebar option for all my books, there is a still a 'recently added' selection (and it works, strangely) and a library for TV Shows (Yes, I'm still under the audiobooks library). When I select that it property takes me to my TV Shows library and changes the selection in the drop down menu to TV shows.

This is just weird, I don't know what to make of this or how to fix it. I have not lost my library, I can see it in the finder still organized by iTunes into neat folders, but it will not display them. Anyone have any ideas on what this is and how to fix it?

The TV Shows links in Audiobooks is a bug with this build of iTunes that affects some users. There is a workaround in Windows that involves changing an option not available in the Mac version of 12.9.

Make a smart playlist with the rule Media Kind is Audiobook and Name is not <empty>, or anything similar that will match all audiobooks. You can toggle the playlists view between All Playlists and <Media Kind> Playlists.

No luck trying your suggestion. iPhone Audiobook library still appears empty from iTunes window. So, I logged into audible and downloaded directly from there. I am now able to play but chapter titles are not present. The entire audio book is listed as 1 chapter 21 hours long! I know there is a Audible download manager for Windows but have not seen anything as such for a mac. What am I missing?
