using ipod gen 3 for music and it wont connect to itunes store or app store and also wont show up as a device in apple page

iPod touch 2 won't let me sign into App Store or iTunes Just got a second hand iPod 2 that we have reset, but it seems like there is no way to sign into iTunes and when we try to sign into the App Store it says it cannot open. Just need to get music on this thing for my daughter.

What version of iOS does it run? See About App Store and iTunes Store availability - Apple Support.
